Title: Poor Coordination
Post by: Chris McGill on 22 July 2025, 09:01:07 PM
hi

I know this has been discussed previously but does the Poor Coordination rule affect infantry and artillery working together. In our games, mixing Anti Tank guns, Artillery, and infantry in a single group, does not work because of the activation penalty. We would have thought that most armies had a history of coordinating Artillery and infantry actions.

We can understand the penalty being applied to armour being coordinated with infantry etc. in many armies

In BKCII, the penalty applied to actions involving armour and other units.

What is the rational for the stricter application of the rule

Thanks

Hi Chris
I'm not sure which army list specifically you are referring to, but generally the co-ordination between the infantry and artillery (particularly artillery at a higher level of command) was not that great until the appearance of radio's in any great numbers. Soviet armies were particularly poor at coordination even up until the end of the war, and even into the Cold War era.

Also any units that are in the Support category in the lists are exempt from the effects of Poor Communication as a characteristic, as they are considered embedded within the infantry formations they are supporting.

The change from BKCII reflects a more realistic approach to representing combined arms.
Cheers
