Mods: Not sure if this is the right forum for a thread on my progress/battles in the AWI. If not, please move it to the proper form.
That being said.
Yesterday I purchased the Live Free or Die rule set and scenario book from Little Wars TV. As soon as I am done with my 6mm ACW project I plan on purchasing enough 10mm continentals for 6 Regiments. I plan on starting with Poor's Brigade at Freeman's farm for my first units.
Conventional wisdom would say to purchase opposing forces at the same time, but I want the regiments to have varied figures, so I need to purchase multiple poses for the regiments. I usually buy in smaller batches so I can complete painting one before starting another. While it will take me longer to get anything on the table for battle, I will be able to keep up with the painting this way.
Once I get those painted the second purchase will be enough British to complete Hamilton's Brigade for Freeman's farm. Then the American Militia to complete Poor's brigade, etc.
I will use this thread to show my progress as I go.
Thanks for looking and offering your encouragement.

Look forward to the progress

I certainly am looking forward to see how this project develops etc :) !
Hi Sgt,
Good choice
Quotebut I want the regiments to have varied figures, so I need to purchase multiple poses for the regiments.
Maybe worth bearing in mind that all of the Pendraken AWI packs that I have, have varied poses (excluding any command figures), one of the differences between the AWI and SYW ranges. I think the 'Marching' and the 'Firing' packs have at least 3 different poses and I think the skirmisher/Light Infantry packs may have as many as 6 different poses.
Hope that helps.
Cheers Paul
Thank You T13A. I'll definitely look at them again just to make sure before I order anything.
Very much looking forward to seeing more on this. I've just finished a British AWI army for the same ruleset and the figures were a joy to paint. It was meant to be a small collection but must have been regularly watered...
I understand that cavalry played a very small role in the AWI but had to get some British Light Dragoons and Legion cav. The figures are too nice to ignore !
