We've all had a go at listing our favourite books of the moment, but what about mags? I'm not talking Loaded or Penthouse here but any publication with at least some connection with the hobby. What do you generally think of the quality/content?
I read Wargames Illustrated and like it a lot, even though I do not play most of the rules they report on. Love the background stories, and most of their FOW articles yield at least a scenario. I do not read another English paper mag on a regular basis.
In French I read Vae Victis, and have recently gotten a suscription to Normandie 44, a series of magazines offering background info on D-Day, including one brilliant issue on Carentan. I also regularly buy Ravage, a French fantasy modelling mag.
I get some pdf magazines as well, including Rule One Magazine (on Glorantha),
We get Miniature Wargames and Wargames Recon here at Pendraken HQ, mainly because those are the ones we advertise in.
Battlegames - without doubt the best wargaming magazine i have ever read - and i've read a few! The content is high quality, relevant and thought provoking. It avoids the wikipedia style history so prevalent in WI/MW and also tends to stay away from show reports (nice pics but.... thats all). What's left is almost always a set of articles that make you think about the game or helps you with your gaming.

I'm not familiar with this mag, gonna check it out.

I'll read WI sporadically - as Rudy says, the FoW stuff is often useful for BKC scenarios. Battlegames is good too - if I was going to subscribe again to a magazine, it'd be that one...
...having said all that, the vast majority of my hobby-related reading is online - or in 'proper' books.
To be honest I dont really anymore. I do occasionally get a wargames illustrated, especially when travelling South. I Have downloaded a pdf of battlegames to see what it is like. I used to subscribe to miniature wargames and then would get a load of white dwarf, but I am doing more role play games than wargames so i dont usually find anything of use, interest yes, use no

I've seen it advertised and keep meaning to investigate.
I was also interested to note that there was only one mention of a fantasy mag (White Dwarf) bearing in mind the the fantasy interest on the forum.
Sometimes Wargames Illustrated, sometimes Dadi&Piombo (italian tabletop games magazine). Often a friend of mine lends me White Dwarf. Never heard before about Battlegames magazine, I check it now, I'm quite courious.
I have I don't know how many issues of Dragon fantasy magazine on CDRom, but never got round to reading them all
Very occasionly buy the mags, get Society Journal, Battlefleet and Ragnarok, but those are bit irregular.
IanS
Battlegames and Phil Olley's Classic Wargaming Journal.
