Colin got to have a second go at my dwarves with his pointy-eared host. https://grahamsgaming.blogspot.com/2025/04/midgard-dwarves-against-elves-rematch.html

Great report Graham!
Looks like fun
Interesting battle - are the Dwarven infantry better than the Elves, or was their dice rolling just better?
Thanks chaps.

Previously the Dwarves had better armour, but Colin had upped his spearmen for this game so they were evenly matched. Personally I put it down to simple Dwarven Grit, or else my superior generalship (rolling high when Colin rolled low!). ;D
Superior dice rolling er Generalship is always important ;D
One thing we have found over the years with the more open games like Midgard is actually getting all the stats for the forces balanced / representative across the different fantasy tropes can really be quite hard work, so that you get the different tropes in place.
To me Dwarven infantry should be better than Elven infantry. But Elven bows should be better than Dwarven ones. But I suppose it depends on which mythos / lore you are going with.
Anyway - better to get the toys on the table and have games rather than poring over spreadsheets!
The dwarf archers were well out classed by the elves, which is why my tactic was to get in close as quickly as possible!
Although Colin was disappointed with the effectiveness of his elf archers, probably my use of mist spells to screen the best targets didn't help.
