Random question I know, but how do you carry a battle axe?
Swords have scabbards that hold them. How would a warrior carry his axe as he went from A to B?
Single blade or double blade?
Either in a loop on a sling, in a scabbard, or by the shaft, just under the head (oooeeer Mrs), using it like a walking stick.
Gimli carries his by the haft with both hands, or has a back sling in the movies.
In the 2009 film Valhalla Rising with the actor Mads Mikkelsen in it playing the lead, you see really good portrayals of both axe fighting and axes being carried - the latter mainly being thrust through a belt.
NB: Its extremely violent be warned.
I am asking for an upcoming RPG I will be running. We are looking at a 'Vikingesque' one bladed, probably one handed, type.
We missed the obvious answer...
Carefully
That was going to be my answer Will ;D !
Would that be "Carefully"
There is an echo in here...

Well, since we're talking vikingesque, in the skull of an enemy: you burry it there and then get a couple of thralls to carry it for you...

Waste of a good drinking cup, if you ask me.
