Title: Both sides of the hill: Beaune-la-Rolande (1870)

There is a particular pleasure to be had from fighting the same historical battle twice, swapping sides so as to experience the tactical challenge from both sides of the hill.

We managed to do that in 3 hours at the club this week, using Dave's fine collection of Pendraken Franco-Prussian War armies. Our battle was Beaune-la-Rolande (1870), a classic contest of quantity vs quality that provided good entertainment and some food for thought. Photo-AAR here:
