Title: AWI Buildings
Post by: fred. on 12 March 2025, 08:14:19 PM
I'm thinking of adding some buildings to my AWI games - but I'm not 100% certain what buildings are right for this era - and given the geographic spread of the AWI I suspect different building styles may have been in use in the North and the South?

I've had a look at the 6mm battlescale buildings, and there are quite a lot of wooden plank / clapboard style, do any and all of these work? What about stone or rendered styles?

I'll probably go with 6mm buildings as we are using a 1" base with 4 figures on it to represent 50-75 real men, so the smaller footprint feels right.

Cheers Will - every range seems to cover AWI to ACW to Wild West - I wanted to check if any where more appropriate for the earlier period.

As I'm currently working on an AWI project, I've been thinking about this as well.   I already have an ACW 6mm collection (which uses houses from Total Battle Miniatures) so will probably use these for most games.   If the period catches on with our gaming group, I will look to add a couple of scenic bases (with a house or two), particularly if the game is set in the south.

Fred,

Here's a site I came upon for buildings.  Not sure if any of these would fit but worth a look.

Thanks - the Battlescale range is available through Pendraken https://www.pendraken.co.uk/battlescale-6mm-buildings

I picked a number of them up at Phalanx last month - so need to get some paint on them soon!
