Title: 1:1
Post by: Essexmark on 09 March 2025, 01:21:38 PM
Good afternoon. I've come back to wargaming after a long hiatus and starting to put some armies together at 10mm and 6mm. One of my passion was mid 80s cold war Europe games and have found a good number of my old heroics and ros 6mm (sorry guys prefer 6mm for cold war). Can you tell me please if CWC works at 1 model = 1 vehicle please. There's conflicting info online saying you can but hits don't really work. Would welcome views please. Thank you

Welcome back to gaming!

Generally when playing at 1 model to 1 vehicle most people use the optional 'hits stay on' rule.

The base rule is that hits on a unit come off at the end of a turn, which works fine to represent shock and disruption to a platoon. But most players prefer for 1:1 scale to leave hits on, as it is a bit harder to rationalise hits coming off from a single vehicle and what that represents in the real world.

Leaving hits on does make the game a bit more deadly - but this just means you get to have bigger games!

The other core activation mechanisms and the combined arms all work well.

Hi Mark

What Fred states is the correct way to play 1:1

You might also want to look at some of the Optional rules as well. Especially the Supply and Recovery mechanisms, as not all units that are KO'd in a 1:1 game are a total right-off, so may be recoverable. Plus, these mechanisms allow you to use the ARVs you might want to field.

Also welcome to the game

We que to play 1:1 in both BKC and CWC.
I'm thinking in changing the game length cause the game are really deathly and, sometime, surviving 12 turns for the defender is really challenging. What do you think?
