Picked up the recent Helion release on the Nine Years War. Pendraken has a good amount of what one would need. The question is what rules? I'm thinking Tercios for bigger battles, perhaps one of Daniel Mersey's Lion Rampant variants for smaller battles.
Is there anything else that anyone can think of?
Any proxies for Irish horse or command?
I used ELM 20 Irish horse (from the late european medieval range) to depict "traditional" native Irish horse in my War of the 3 Kingdoms Irish armies, so they should be fine for the 9YW period.
For command what about EL 22 from the Elizabethian range - they look pretty generic?
We use For King and Parliament for all our W3K games, but not played 9YW. If you like grids its right at the end of the period covered by To the Strongest! rules...
Impetus:Baroque might do the trick.
We tend to use Warlord's Pike and Shotte - they work are fairly simple and fast to play. You may have seen our large participation game at Hammerhead using Pendraken figures.
I'd suggest Irregular Wars rules wise.
The Pendraken Irish figures are good, I've got a fairly large army of them painted up
Thanks gents, much appreciated! I'm a big fan of Irregular aware (I actually think I have these armies in 15mm unpainted for IW).I think the plan, thus far in my head, is to base them on 30mm or 40mm squares and a few pike and shot units on 30x60mm or 40x80mm. That will allow me to use Irregular Wars smaller battles and Tercios for larger battles.
