Title: "Updated Topics" issue
Post by: O Dinas Powys on 03 March 2025, 09:21:41 AM
Anyone else having a problem with clicking on "Updated Topics"?  It's going to a blank window with https://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php?action=unreadreplies for the address.

No issues with "Unread Posts", that's working fine.

I'll switch 'personas' and try with Doppelganger.

Yep !

Get the same message using this one.

"This page isn't working."

(Have to admit..I don't think I've ever used this function before...I always use "Unread Posts."

Cheers - Phil.

I tend to use it to keep an eye on stuff I've replied to.  I think it was fine until last week (or the one before that; or...  ;)  )

Not working here either, I'll ask Stewart to take a look at it.  There was a minor issue with Forum emails over the weekend, so it could be tied to that.

Hi guys,

The short answer is - I have no idea why this stopped working. I'm not sure how I'm going to fix it but the work around right now is to top "&all" at the end of the URL. So THIS (https://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php?action=unreadreplies&all)

The long answer is: it has something to do with how the theme interacts with the core engine, once the number of posts is over 100'000 it should change the link as above, but it isn't. I've tried running some update/recount script and it hasn't changed anything. The number of posts is too high, so it has to create temporary tables based off the main database rather than tie up the main tables long enough to run the query (bad overall design IMHO but who am I to say). It's not realisiing there are lots of posts when it should make the temp table, but when it comes to searching it DOES know that there are lots of posts and says "Where's my temp table" and promptly faints in shock and melodrama.

I will fix this, even if I have to brute force it, I just have to find the right place the kick it!

Thanks for looking.

That URL is different to what the button used to do :-\
The All Unread Topics button always worked/took you to the longer list.

Updated topics used to just show a list of unread topics the user was receiving notification for, rather than the whole shebang.

Hope that makes sense and is of some help, good luck.
