Well some has to ask - who switched thev mains off ? Basically what happened ?
I assume it was the IT guy working on the "missing 10 days of posts" issue .... or Leon saving on electricity and server rental fees :d :d :d
It was aliens.
So I had posted a 2 part batrep just before IT worked on it... and they are gone! I'll have to repost them,

Keep you quiet wont it ?
Is there a way to keep members of this notable organ quiet?
I have noticed some posts from myself have disappeared into the ether, now that I have been able to access the forum once again. Not a big issue for sure, but worth mentioning.
Apologies all.
"The IT guy" here. Leon us busy at a show or I'm sure how would be filling you all in. In short:
The forum migrated from one server to a newer one
The server company handled this and failed to copy over an up to date backup before switching, hence the 10 days missing.
We had to take the difficult decision of losing 2 days of posts vs 10 days.
I tried to get the server guy to do the rollback, was told it was done at 4:55pm on Friday. He then left the office and it clearly wasn't done.
I've spent the last couple of days wrestling with the server to try to recover everything ready for the painting competition. I'm running on way too little sleep, even for an IT guy, but finally it's working. The forum went up again at around 9am UK time on Sunday, between 5pm Friday and 10am Sunday I worked pretty much solidly on this, I tend collapsed into my pit to recover.
I can only apologise for the lost posts. Technically I still have them but they're in a backup file I took before rolling back and can't restore them without spending another week trying to manually hook loads of records together. What I can do, I think, if there's a particularly long/detailed/epic post that was lost that you want to recover I can probably pull the raw text of the post and send it to you to repost. That's a big ask though, I'm not asking for money to do this but please, only ask if it's REALLY important!
@stormrider:
Been there. Done that!
Sleep well, you've earned it.
@Stormider - Thank you.
Good work stormrider.
Can't believe the hosting company didn't transfer a current back-up of the DB over.
And also not too surprised that trying to extract the most recent posts to add to a back-up is pretty impractical due to the various keys on different tables.
As said above, apologies for the downtime and lost posts, the server company have definitely dropped the ball there. And a big thanks to Stormrider for spending all that time getting it fixed and back up for us.
Thank you @stormrider
Pretty sure nothing too profound will have been lost.
Yes, thanks stormrider, above and beyond and all that. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the info and your hardwork in getting it back up and running. As for the 'lost posts', First World problems and all that!

Oh no! We may have lost posts by FSN! What will we do?
Well done Stormrider - get your head down.

All the IT systems I installed worked perfectly until after I had retired.
