Title: GW Warmaster figure size
Post by: far4ngn on 25 January 2025, 08:05:40 PM
Hi just wondering if the GW Warmaster figures are the same size a Pendraken Fantasy or the historical ranges?

I've never owned the GW stuff sow hopefully someone can tell me.

Generally Warmaster is much closer to the historicals.

Pendraken Fantasy is 12mm and is very much the same size as the Kallistra range.

That said my Pendraken Fantasy armies fight against GW Warmaster ones.

If you're thinking of starting now with the GW figs I hope you've got deep pockets.

Definitely not, especially when you can get good proxies.

I've painted both Kislev and Dogs of War Warmaster armies.   The Kislev army worked better as they are just made up of Pendraken historicals (this was my covid project !).   For the Dogs of War army, I mainly used Pendraken but tried to add in a few Warmaster figures & found a significant size difference between say the Warmaster Knights and historical Mongols (used as light cavalry).   I know there would have been real world size differences here but they do look a bit daft when the units are side by side.

Horse sizes are another thing entirely!

Empire knights vs Pendraken Mongols is probably the most extreme! The Empire knights are pretty big compared with much of the other WM figs.

But generally GW horses are bigger than Pendraken ones
