Hi,
as I was reading the Field defence and fortification at page 84, I met the Vehicle scrape and the AFV pit. As far as I understand both provide hard/full cover, although "Vehicle Scrapes and Gun pits only provide defensive cover to the Front and Flanks of the unit them ".
Does this mean that AFV pit provide full cover even when is hit in the back?
Do both provide a +1 of the save Factor?
As I'm preparing some scenarios for AIW, the hull down position was an important tactical factor in many battles, how can simulate it?
I think it could be similar to Vehicle scrapes providing cover only to shoots coming from the frontal sector, increasing save factor by 1.
What do you think about it?
Best regards,
Fabio
Hi Fabio
That is correct - my answer in-line in bold
Cheers

> Yes - they are deemed to be of a more specialist construction - so the AFV gets protection from the rear

Thanks Mark for the fast replay.
What about the hull down?
Do you think is proper to simulate in CWC?
If your answer is positive, which is the best way to simulate? Is my proposal sensible?
The tank/vehicle positions behind a crest in small ridge or in sand dune line, is considered as in a vehicle scrapes except it got covers only if the shooting is through the crestline.

Fabio
I think that it is worth bearing in mind (at all times) that we are simulating a group of vehicles/AFVs.
But yes, your approach regarding hull down would work for LoS shooting within 45 degrees of the centre-front of the unit.

Thanks Mark.
