Allegedly* the motto of my family is
Subditus fidelis regis est salus regni
Translation: A faithful subject of the king is a preserver of the monarchy.
I want to put this on a ECW flag. Any interesting suggestions for a flag? - don't want the standard 1/2/3/4 stars etc.
*It's from one of those family history sites that work on the basis that people don't know how coats of arms work, but I like the idea I can have a 'mini-me', however fake, on the table.

Looking at the the coat of arms, you could either use little towers in place of stars, billets etc. or sable and ermine girony could look impressive.
That's quite an unusual coat of arms. Gyronny ermine & sable - which would point to an original grant to a furrier. That is if it is actually genuinely from a grant of arms.
A gyronny field like the arms would work; there is at least one other gyronny field (Apsley's foot) so not completely ahistorical. With a canton of St George and even the tower at the centre of the Colonel's flag. You could take up the fur theme and use ermine dots as the company distinctions.

Hmm. I think ermine with a slogan might be too complicated for 10mm. However typing this has sparked a thought.
Per Pale, Dexter ermine, sinister sable with slogan. Might still be too much for a 10mm standard, but fits with some non-standard standards.
The obvious solution is to copy and past the coat of arms into Word or similar. Reversing the image on one side, and print it as a flag.
You have access to the tax payers printer at work - make use of it :)
Oh I know how I'm going to do it, it's suggestion on design I'm after.
