Last week, my brother-in-law asked me to fly to Glasgow to pick up a car he had bought. on looking at suggested routes home, I realised I was going within a few miles of Pendraken Towers. So I had to make a detour and have a look round the shop.
I was met by Leon and M'lady,who were both a little surprised to see me that far north. ( I nearly had a nosebleed). I was introduced to Chris, one of the Laser 2d designers, and Jess the packing lady. It was a little disconcerting when Leon gave her my full name she remembered my home address (Do I really place that many orders ?).Also concerning was what Mrs Orcs might make of this fact. :)
After M'lady had made me a brew, Leon took me on the grand tour of the establishment. The laser cutters, 3 d master printers, and the stations where the casting dwarves work. I also had a chat with Dave, and an offer of casting up any packs I wanted. The set up is very impressive, with the sheer number of molds a real eye opener.
To be honest I was not sure I was going to actually make it to Pendraken while it was open, so I had only scribbled down a list of paints I needed late the evening before. The fact that my 10mm painting pile alone has 3 WW2 armies, 4 Ancient armies and several hundred WSS in it meant there was probably not much I actually needed. (Don't ask about the piles for other scales) and the lack of a list of figures that might be needed did not help.
So I purchased a few paints and some needed bases, before resuming my journey down hill to home. Just to prove i had actually been there Leon Took my photo.

A pretty good way to break up the journey back home :) .

Although it was a few years ago now I had a similar experience when Mrs Shy and I travelled down from Glasgow to Sheffield to see my uncle when we were in the UK. Arranged to call in and see Leon on the way (at the "old" unit) and were shown around and left a order to be sent on to me in due course.
Everyone at Pendraken was great and it was well worth the visit. :-bd

Journey back was awful, about 40 miles (literally) of the M1 had one lane closed (used to called the hard shoulder), and 50 speed limit with average speed cameras. To make it worse it poured with rain and the lorries kept catching up with you, so you were driving in limited visibility due to a cloud of spray for most of the time.
I think he likes it, it was nice to drive, and very comfortable.
