Post by: pierre the shy on 05 September 2024, 01:13:30 AM
I present my battle report on our recent GQ1/2 WW2 Naval game depicting a "What if" version of Operation Vigorous from the British perspective.

https://betweenthelines10mm.blogspot.com/2024/09/operation-vigorous-battle-report.html (https://betweenthelines10mm.blogspot.com/2024/09/operation-vigorous-battle-report.html)

I hope you find it enjoyable.

Thanks to my worthy oppenent Paul R for agreeing to play out my naval "what if" ideas.

Great AAR, Peter.

Outnumbered, outgunned and using equipment generally a generation behind the Axis, the Brits were always going to have have an uphill struggle.

Thanks Peter, it was a very interesting scenario and a great report

The Littorio shot particularly well as did Trento

The Soldati class destroyers were well placed to make their torpedo attack with the two leading destroyers succeeding in striking the slowed Warspite. The remaining two badly misjudged the reaction of the leading R-class battleship and their torpedoes were badly off target

The Luftwaffe suffered very heavy casualties without inflicting any significant damage on the enemy ships. The enemy fighter loses were a small consolation
