Title: Magister militum range sale
Post by: Maraviglia on 01 September 2024, 11:46:32 AM
I'm not sure where this should be posted but hopefully here is appropriate.
As I'm sure.many are aware Magister militum are selling up and going away to do other things so I was wondering if it might be worth Pendraken looking at picking up some of their 10mm ranges.
From a purely personal view I'd like to be able to get more of their biblical stuff!

I think they tried but MM wanted a single all in payday

Odd since they themselves picked up various collections over the years

Various bits and pieces seem to be going to other traders - their 3/4mm stuff has been picked up recently by Microworld, for example.

It's possible they want to sell everything as a job lot, found they couldn't and are now parcelling stuff out.

As to whether it would be worth Leon's while picking up their 10mm collection I'll leave Leon to say.

However when I look at the work that acquiring the TB Line range has involved, coupled with the possibility of acquiring what are effectively identical yet incompatible figures, well I'd certainly be thinking twice about it.

By "effectively identical yet incompatible figures" I mean same army, same pose but different build or height.

I think I have mentioned before on this forum that while most of the figures I have are good, there is some inconsistency within ranges. I believe they sometimes used different sculptures for a single range.

Many years ago I bought an Early Imperial Roman army to fight the Dacian Wars. The Roman Archers literally stood head and shoulders above the legionaries, and were similarly bigger in heft. When opponents see the archers together with the legionaries they wonder if the archers are small 15mm figures.

Now it may only be that range, but you would have to persuade Magister Militums owners to sell just the biblical range otherwise Leon would be stuck with dozens of duplicate ranges.

We've had some discussions about their 10mm ranges but we're not in a position to be investing that kind of money at the moment.

Shame but entirely understandable. Plus I remembered that there is Bronze age in the Pendraken plans for the future so silver linings and all that!
