I have, indeed survived another journey around the sun, so shall be celebrating as usual by remembering the first day of the Battle of Talavera (27th July 1809), the Ceasefire at Panmunjom (1953), the Defeat of MacBeth (1054), the arrival of tobacco into England (1586) and the death of Bob Hope (2003).
Some or none of these may appear on my wargames table.
I had a day out yesterday with my daughter at the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Port Sunlight. Highlights included the Napoleon Room with it's death masks of the great man and the "Black Brunswicker" by Millais. It is good to know that Millais painted Brunswickers the same way I did, lots of black and hope for the best.
