Last Monday we played Mechili battle, scenario #3 from Benghazi Handicap book.
Western desert 1941 Italians (Roberto) vs. British (Marco and me) with plenty of those light tanks.
Decisive Italian victory: Roberto dash plan pierced our defence.
We had a lot of fun, BKIV is really great.

A very good looking game, Mechili is an interesting battle
Tomorrow morning we've planned a refought of Mechili, so to correct some mistakes done in rules interpretation last Monday :-\
Sounds fun

Hello and welcome to the forum :)
Mechili second chance. This time a blunder, five failed Command rolls (half M13s heavy delayed) and an eagle-eyed and lucky Brit FAO, forced the Italian to stop their bold rush.
Decisive British victory and much fun!

The Command system can be hugely frustrating but generally it adds that 'fog of war' and realistic uncertainty that I (& other dedicated Commander players) love so much.
Great to hear you are having fun :)
It's what converted me over to these rules. Recreating the battles around Sidi Rezegh. Lots of fun failing to get all the British Armour to co-ordinate and finally when I got an armoured regiment overlooking the airfield and in a dominant position to start destroying the Panzers. double 6 then 8 and they charged instead. Felt I had inadvertently recreated history. Never feel you are completely in control and that is how it should be.
I entirely agree - having played GWSH which has an entirely different approach to C&C(and in that context a very good one, I think), I was sceptical about BKCIV until I played it (desert war 1941, British v Italians) but was won over completely by the stop-start-never-quite-know-what-will-happen-next character of it, which I felt was v close to the reality I had read about.
yes I came from Corp commander then fist full of tow but loved the feeling BKC gives. Again close to what I had read. PXL_20211128_221318779x.jpg

I'm really glad you are enjoying it chaps.
Like you both, I originally came to FWC initially and then CWC (before BKC) from other sets of rules, and was looking for, and found, the unpredictability and 'fog-of-war' effect that the 'Commander' mechanisms produced.
Some of the concepts, such as casualties and suppression coming off each turn can be hard to get your head around. But there is now a whole generation of gamers brought up on 'Warmaster' who are progressing into historical 'modern' armoured warfare, for whom this idea is not at all 'alien'.
I also liked the idea that I could play both small games (a few hundred points) and huge multi-player games with OOBs rather than points, using the same rules.
I look forward to reading more of your battle reports with pleasure.
