This is the setup for the Battle of Sunshine Church, July 31, 1864. The scenario is from "Atlanta Besieged: Regimental Wargame Scenarios for the Atlanta Campaign: July 1864" by Brad Butkovitch. It will be played using "Regimental Fire and Fury" by Rich Hasenaur.
The scenario is the Union cavalry division under General Stoneman attempting to return to the Union lines after a raid into Georgia. He tried to release Union prisoners at Andersonville but did not make it that far. His 3 small brigades are very tired. Unfortunately as he was moving north past Sunshine Church, he found rebels across his line of retreat behind breastworks. The Confederates also have 3 small cavalry brigades with 2 sections of guns.
All the troops on both sides start dismounted, but can mount at any time. But as can be seen, the terrain is covered with light woods and rolling hills with only a few patches of clear grassland.
This is Sunshine church.

The Union needs to exit the road to the north, bringing their supply wagons which have already issued all their ammunition.
