Whilst at Pendraken Miniatures the other day, one of the Confederate players purchased some SciFi Tripods. (see forum post "Gaming at Pendraken Miniatures - 20/4/24")

As you can see, Bren has made a cracking good job on them.
[Of note: Bren has extended the Tripod legs - (Bren explains the process) "The legs are extended with wooden dowls and the joints are thick paper, lots of pva and superglue gel. I concaved the end of the dowels to make it fit and have more contact, would have been a pain* to do with metal I think." - increasing the height of the model and creating a 'knee-joint' on the alien machines.]
*Bren's original choice of word has been substituted with a U-rated alternative, less this forum post be rated as PG-13.
The accompanying ship models are 1/700, HMS Rodney and RMS Titanic.

Absolutely brilliant 8) !
All four models are brilliant!
Very successful visit to Pendraken by the looks of the ACW game and the tripods :-bd
Lovely work all
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
Very quick work on the modified tripods
Great work ! :-bd
They look really nice! =D> =D> =D>
They look great - and very speedy work.
One question, do the tripods legs go all the way down to the sea bed, or do they have flotation devices, just under the water ;)

Fred.
:)
1st idea of a reply: [censored] off (it did begin with a 'B', so not too rude/offensive, and said in a jocular tone).
2nd idea of a reply: If you've a ouija board to hand, ask H.G.Wells.
3rd idea of a reply: I'll ask Bren - but expect an answer similar to option one, above ;D
You do float a good point, I'll admit, Fred :)
[Last I looked in on the group Discord, plans were already afoot (or should that be a-sail?) for a dozen tripods and, I think, the Royal Navy's Channel Fleet :o ]
Hi Fred, very good question 🤔
I suppose its left to your imagination how the tripods are in the water ,I have a poster on my gaming bunker wall that shows the tripod towering over hms thunderchild as it melts its bow so I copied that as best I could, I like to think the tripods are just bad ass and can keep there ways of doing things a mystery

This one?

Fair point!
Your models look fantastic - I think you have a bit more dynamism than the original poster - perhaps because you have more fire (and two of everything).

Bren, it does look like you can upload a photo to the club's discord ("hosting the image") and use it on here. I wasn't sure last night, though do know that if you use a Private Facebook photo and try to copy onto a forum it won't work.
To copy a photo from Discord, and using a Mouse (I don't have a smart phone, so no idea how you'll do it), Right Click on the photo till a pop-up shows - select "copy image link"
which, when (Left Click on mouse, selecting) "Paste" onto a forum post will appear like this

attach this [ img ] at the start
and this [ /img ] at the end

(but without the gaps between the brackets and img or /img, I had to include those for the above example to be viewable as 'computer-speech')
and this is the result

Looks great with a very effective tripod mod. My first thought on seeing these was 'where do I get them from ?'. Must admit that I don't like the original 'shorter legged' variety of tripod but the extensions really make the same models pop. Inspiring stuff.

Ah, the finest traditions of the Pendraken Regiment - Accurate yet unhelpful.
Love the models. Excellent work!
Great model of the Invincible! :o

I'd forgotten about these models, so had a "...oh yeah," moment when I first say the photos.

Same here. Maybe there'll have to be an optional 'extra tall' version of each tripod, with leg extensions, as a separate code?
