Title: Arnhem Mini-Campaign
Post by: Steve J on 22 March 2024, 06:43:06 PM
Here are my Blog posts of a mini-campaign I ran a month or so ago, using a mix of BKCII & BKCIV:

Great set of reports - as always - Steve

And as usual you show us all what fun can be had with not a huge amount of units and kit - but the terrain certainly made it look fantastic.

The use of smoke and the effectiveness of the mortars is certainly something to consider with other such scenarios.

Thanks for sharing.
Mark

Great work Steve J, thanks for taking the time to post your campaign Batreps  :-bd

Have to agree with Mark below that wargaming wise you have shown us all how one can do a great deal with a relatively small amount of units on each side. As always your table set up looks very realistic.

Good stuff!

Thanks chaps!

My new gaming mat has certainly upped the visual appeal of my games, which is what I hoped it would do and I and others seem to like it :). Space and time constraints mean that I rarely have the time at present for Battalion level games, so these smaller actions tick many boxes for me.

@ Mark. I've been meaning to try 2" mortar smoke for years and after a search on this forum, came across your suggestion, which worked a treat. So moving forward I aim to carry on with this. Nott too powerful but if you can get it into the action, it does help, which is of course good to see.

Really good series of battle reports. Actually had me on the edge of my seat as I went through them wondering what the outcome would be!
As has been mentioned by others the terrain layout was excellent. Where did you get the fences or where they home made?

Cheers

David

Firstly welcome on board David :) ! The fences are a mix of stuff, som eof which I bought at a bring'n'buy years ago, so no idea who made them. The others are from Antics modelshop and might be HO/OO or N guage, again so long ago I can't be sure. Hope that helps?

@Techo3 - Cheers! I was a member many many years ago and posted a few times back in the day but I think I must have been reset!

@Steve J. Thanks for replying. I did wonder about N Gauge. Time to check out the railway modellers' sites!

I have been slowly building up some late War Brits and Germans forces and now they are getting to a stage where I can actually use them I've suddenly realised that I am lacking 10mm terrain

Just for your info, all the buildings are 6mm, rather than 10mm, which works well IMHO. The smaller footprint allows for a few more buildings to give a better look to a built up area. The ones on show are all by Leven Miniatures..

Kingsleypark, Have you looked at Pendraken's scenics? They have fences, walls and hedges in 10mm, and you'd be supporting the best wargaming company supplier.

They also do Battlescale

Thanks all for the welcome!

@SteveJ - that's a good idea re using 6mm buildings (of which I do have several). I'll go give that a try.

@fsn - browsing the Pendraken shop as I type!
