Title: Hattons closing down
Post by: Leon on 14 January 2024, 01:21:19 AM
I know a few folks here have used or mentioned Hattons in the past, so I thought I'd pass on the news that they've announced that they're closing down.  They've currently got a sale running on everything on the site: https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail?id=1499 so there might be some bargains to be had.

There's not a lot left to be fair. Had a look yesterday.

Just read over on a wargaming blog (Wargaming Miscellany - 14th Jan. 2024) about this, and the blogger also mentions the fact that one of the biggest model railway show organisers have decided to stop putting on the show (been running for 25 years).

The blogger draws similarities between the 'greying' of both model railway and the wargaming hobbies.

Aye, sad news. They have been my 'go to' supplier of choice for the railway stuff for the last twenty years or so. (Not that I buy much, but it's nearly all been from them.)

There's clearly been a feeding frenzy, because there seems to be nothing left (of the stuff I would be interested in at least).

Kudos to the management for closing the business down properly, rather than just unexpectedly shutting down one day.

My sympathies to the employees, who presumably will soon be losing their jobs.
