Title: Flames of war to Blitzkrieg
Post by: Jambo on 11 January 2024, 07:21:39 AM
Hello,

I have been debating to do with my FoW collection. I have a sizable force of panzer grenadiers and late war brits. I bought quite a lot back in 2010-11 before a wider range of plastics was available, so many of the models are pewter or metal. I have quite a few peter pig and other smaller 3rd parties. About 5 years ago I bought some of the detailed plastic bases and debased the models to prep them for rebasing/repainting.... where they've sat in a box since. I'm in two minds about what to do with them.

On one hand, I could rebase to FoW standards and then sell them on as to my knowledge FoW isn't all that popular anymore compared to the 10mm scene.
The other is I quite like a lot of the models and I've considered putting them on very basic Blitzkrieg bases to learn the game, and if I like it - replace it with a 10mm army from Pendraken. The question is would that be acceptable to most? I can be particular about scale (I wouldn't ever refuse to play someone so long as the scale is relatively close) but I respect that others might feel differently.

Cheers

Should work well for BKC - use 1 base as a section and 1 vehicle as 1 vehicle. Also take a look at "Battlegroup" from PSC. WElcom on board.

If there is resale value in FoW figures, then stick with FoW basing.

FoW basing will work with BKC or Battlegroup fine. You might need the odd extra command stand or similar between the rules, but a few extra command stands are quick and easy to put together.

As for playing 15mm vs 10mm - it would very much depend on your opponent. Personally I think the size / bulk of the tanks would look odd.

In my gaming group we have plenty of both 10mm and 15mm WWII so this hasn't really come up. The great thing about WWII is that as long as forces are fairly historical they will work with most rules.
