Just wondered if you've ever considered offering dollies to the community?
Not saying I'd even be that successful but I've enjoyed a bit of greenstuff sculpting and think it could be an interesting 2024 project
Was it a Barbie or a Ken you were after? :)
I think you have posed an interesting question Corso and one deserving a serious answer. My guess is no since they are likely considered an IP worth guarding. Likely Leon will reply at some point.
That's a fair point, I hadn't considered

I found your answer funny, Orcs. Didn't mean to sound like a (fill in the blank)
:D
How large and thick would a 10mm dolly be, would be my question.
Working from a wire armature would allow the sculpting material to be built up and give strength to the miniature but, converting a 10mm dolly would, possibly, see the miniature resembling an overweight person - at least, that's my initial thoughts.
I don't know how the sculptors work, dollies or armatures?
I have had some 28mm dollies to play around with, when I worked for Stuart at Col. Bills, and they're obviously thinner in overall thickness than what a finished miniature is (allowing for layering of sculpting material). That's why I'm wondering what size a 10mm dolly would be, and could it be successfully cast to order without a lot of wastage (not that I know much about casting or casters).
We do have a variety of dollies but I'm not sure if they're something we'd want to sell to folks. It might be something we could get a sculptor to knock up and then we could sell them as a pack. Just basic poses, so standing, walking, kneeling, crawling?

No worries, you were right, he deserved a serious answer.

But he asked it here...
Personal thoughts...
The main problem I foresee, is that the dollies I've made, and use, are not just ultra thin wire frames.
The very originals that I produced for Leon were too 'thin' to cast well....So I basically chunked them out so that they would cast successfully.
These are the ones I use nowadays, BUT.....in every case I use the Dremmel to grind these down all over, a tad, before I start adding the putty. Though I tend to leave the faces alone.
Hope that helps.
Cheers - Phil.
Are you saying my Roman Triari has the same face as my US artilleryman :o
The eternal soldier :)

Only if they both have a big nose!

If they're both wee men that I've made.....and it's the same basic pose, quite possibly.😉
I'm not sure how many different dollies I've got on 'Phil's' dollies mould....20?..30?....and I have 'revamped ' them three or four times....so the faces are reasonably varied.
Thanks, Phil, for another glimpse behind the curtain, be careful with that Dremmel X_X
I find the process of creating and producing figures fascinating :-B
And as usual the more I learn about it the more there is to learn :)
It's Techno's work and past discussions that inspired the question
Way back when Scruby did dollies for his 20mm WWII troops. I got some and I think I made 3 or 4 Germans. I will post if I can find them.
