Title: My daughter's 19th party.
Post by: Duke Speedy of Leighton on 29 December 2023, 06:47:04 PM
Ten 19 year-olds downstairs celebrating Imi's birthday.
No drinking, smoking, swearing. Just happily blowing each other up on Mario kart!

What have we done wrong as parents!!!   ;D

Imi obviously needs the services of a disreputable uncle/aunt.  :D
We regarded it as our duty to introduce our niece and nephew to drinking when they reached 16. When the niece moved back home for a while after uni and her mother complained that she was drinking too much, we knew we had succeeded! :d

It's funny how some parents forget what they were doing themselves in their teens/twenties. ;)

Which, in many cases, also explains why they have teenage chiuldren.

Seems to the way these days!  Jamie's quite similar, doesn't go out or drink, just goes for hikes and talks to his friends online.  Even the one that lives 40 yards away on the other side of the street...!

At Uni he's the 'grandad' of the group despite being the youngest one on the course.  They go to the pub regularly but he'll have soft drinks or the occasional fruit cider, while the rest of them are nissed as pewts.
