Since I skirmish in micro scale, converting games like a song of drums and shakos to cm, I don't need a massive gaming area. So I thought I could see how compact I could make it. My first idea was to use a magnetised notice board and add some sheet flock. It worked well enough but I wanted to encorporate some organisation. So I'mStarting with a large 34cm square 2 draw desk organiser

Next step was to cover the top in flock, decided to go with a cheap paper backed railway bord flock while it fixed well, it's a bit too snooker table green

So out came the flocking materials paint and glue

Much better
The best bit is the storage, plenty of room for micro terrain, miniatures etc.

Since the draws are a little over 12" Square there is even room for 4 terrain boards if I was to expand the game to a 2x2
Some of the terrain I've been working on

This is fantastic!
Thanks, I'm planning to use it mainly for songs of drums and shakos using 6mm Adlers
but I'm thinking a song of Arthur and Merlin using Late Roman Pendraken should work too
Just need a few more it's of terrain, river bridge and some sort of village
I'm wondering if I could get away with using some mediteranian style builds for both...
Superb
Great idea Corso and looking good so far.
I like forward to further reports of progress!

I really like your thinking :)
The trick will be finding stuff that fits in with both games
A river and Bridge should be easy, hedges and fields too, although the first one I made's a bit small for 10mm.
I'd like a small hamlet a chapel and a ruin but whether all that will fit in will be anyone's guess, depends on how many more figures I want to cram in :D
