Hi
Thanks for allowing me to join the forum.
I hope I'm doing this correctly.
I'm just starting in 10mm Napoleonics after a lifetime of wargaming with 15,20,25 and 28mm figures.
A downsizing move to beautiful Scotland has meant a reduced gaming area and so 10mm is perfect.
Please expect to get plenty of questions about all aspects of the 10mm world.
My project is 1809 French and Austrian conflic and my first Pendraken order is on its way as I post this!
Exciting times😀
Cheers
Keith
Enjoy, its totally nuts on here...
Welcome to the party. It is traditional that new arrivals stand all officers of captain's rank or higher one drink every evening until they overtake them in seniority.
Welcome to the madhouse forum :)
Also welcome to Scotland! :)
1809 is not a period I'm in to personally - 1809 BCE maybe - but I wish you well with your project.
Pictures of your progress are always welcome here.
Welcome to the Forum!
Welcome!
Welcome on board Keith! 1809 has piqued my interest and I'm reading Gill's trilogy on the campaign at present.
Welcome on board!
You already doing things right if you are here and buying Pendraken figures!
After years of avoiding Napoleonics over the last couple of years I've built up a few skirmish forces using Pendraken Peninsular figures to game with Sharpe Practice.

To be fair, there's a pretty low bar. You'll find that when you've interacted with some of the denizens.

Good so far ... :)

Indeed, 10mm is perfect, and very suitable for the Napoleonic period. I took the plunge after many years of dithering and am very happy with the optics.

I envy you that excitement of the first order. Having said that, I still get excited when I have an order in. Once I get that email from Leon saying my order has despatched, I spend hours with my nose pressed against the window looking for the mail delivery operative.
I've gone a little later than you - I think Napoleon was in some ways at his best in 1813 (Oooh! Controversial) and I have elements of Poles, Austrians, Russians and Prussians from Leipzig, Wurttemburgers and Bavarians, and Danes form elsewhere in 1813. I also have British and Brunswickers from 1815 and am in the middle for an Ottoman project. After that will be the Swedes or maybe the Portuguese or the Spanish. Then maybe the French?
Welcome to the Forum. Lots of very clever people here, and me too.
Welcome, Keith ! :-h
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Can anyone please explain how exactly do I post a reply to a specific message?
I did say you could expect some questions. I promise they won't all be like this 🙄

If you are logged in there should be a "Quote button which opens a new reply and inserts the message you are trying to quote.
If you highlight a piece of text it will quote only that.
Does that help?
Also, no stupid questions here only stupid answers. You will see the latter here, in profusion :)

It's not really a nested system so you can reply to specific messages. On the right hand side of all messages is the "quote" button. We just insert the previous message into our reply.

Dammit! I said that ... just 2 seconds after you did.

Hello.
... and that is how we respond to specific messages. :D
65 seconds between us? Honours even I think, fsn.

Yes it does, thanks very much. Assuming this reply appears where it should, that is.
Looks pretty good to me.
If you move down below the quoted text before typing it would be perfect. But what you did definitely works!

;D ;D ;D
I second that
And here's me thinking you were all members of the Temperance League 🤣😂
"The very next day, as the dawn it did break,
I went to the vestry the pledge for to take,
But when I got there they were sat in a bunch
Round a big roaring fire drinking tumblers of punch!"
I'll have a shot of Smokehead, barman, put it on Enigmatic Gamer's tab. :)

One drink? Pretty temperate, surely?
Hello again
Can you please explain how I go about posting a new topic?
I have now received my first Pendraken order😁
I have some questions about basing sizes and unit organisation for Napoleonics but can't seem to work out how to start a topic and make the post🙄
Cheers
Keith
On the "Home" page, pick the area you want to post in ... e.g. "Genre/Period Discussions", then "Firelocks to Maxims"
From that, you can pick "new topic", and off you go.

Wait a minute ... you must already have created at least two new topics?
Got it!
My next question will be along shortly...
Thanks
