What are your top 3 TV shows? Which of those all-time greats can you watch over and over again, and which ones do you have to make time for right now? And, as suggested by Clib, from your youth?
All-time:
1. The Soprano's
2. Fawlty Towers
3. Blackadder (not the 1st)
Right now:
1. NCIS Los Angeles
2. Scrubs
3. Boardwalk Empire
Youth:
1. Thundercats
2. Belle and Sebastien
3. Mysterious Cities of Gold
(Honourable mentions to The Simpson's, The Pacific and anything WWE!) :D
Currently;
1. The Wire (though I am only half way through season 4)
2. Arrested Development
3. Screenwipe
All time;
1. Sopranos
2. Simpsons (seasons 1-10, now its just meh or worse)
3. Mystery Science Theatre 3000
Youth;
1. Mysterious Cities of Gold
2. Battle of the Planets (memories very vague)
3. Ulysses 21
added youth as those shows are still beloved, but belong to a diferent way of viewing the world. I could still watch all of them happily now though.
Honourable mentions; Broadwalk Empire (still early days), Band of Brothers, Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm. And Adam Curtis' work like Power of Nightmares, Century of the Self, and The Trap.
The thing about TV is that the vast majority of it is fit only to be despised. I used to have it switched on when doing something else, now I prefer silence.
Another almost impossible question...it changes from time to time.
I tend to not watch too much TV (although its always on as moving wallpaper in the background. I spend far more time online, playing ont he 360, or painting figs to music.

1. Larkrise to Candleford

3. Family Guy
All time:
1. The news (all channels except Fox, includes commentary programmes like Question Time and This Week)

Slot three could so easily have gone with Firefly, Battlestar Galactica (new version), Star Trek (any series except DS9), Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Greenwing, Black Books, South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons, Band of Brothers, or any number of other shows...at the time i'd also have included X-Files, but i look back on it now as time wasted...
Youth:
1. The Clangers
2. Bagpuss
3. Fingerbobs
Honourable mention to Tiswas (although when it went adult with OTT, that killed it off in my memory), and of course Jakanory and Blue Peter. Coming out of my youth there was of course The Tube.
I probably work/video game/watch films/listen to the radio more than I watch TV.... and I do tend to mainly watch comedy and documentaries rather than drama. I've never even watched the Sopranos! :o

3. G.B.H (before Robert Lindsay's career went into mediocrity freefall)
I also wanted to put Edge of Darkness but felt it more appropriate to wait until we had a thread for "Great TV programmes ruined by Mel Gibson"
Youth:
1. Dr Who (John Pertwee era)
2. Captain Scarlet. (Well he's indestructable. No further argument needed)

Couldn't agree more!
And the public info films we were shown, wouldn't make it past the censirs today.

Yes, definitely, although I tried to read the book - it was awful. =)

A friend had the book, and I remember flicking through it, but it didn't appeal at all.
