Title: Drop Canisters in 10mm
Post by: dopplebockdunkel on 29 May 2023, 01:04:22 PM
Hi all

Does anybody know if any vendor makes 10mm drop canisters and spent parachutes? I am putting together a paratrooper force for Crete 1941 and would like to get hold of some.

Cheers!

Jim

Can't think of anyone who makes them. Best bet I suspect would be Plastrut for sealed canisters. Parachutes paper and cotton for the riging lines should work.

You could try the Peter Pig ones.
They are 15mm but small. The parachutes are probably fine @ 15mm anyway
Or I'd make the canisters up out of wooden dowels or plastic rod and the parachute up out of PDF soaked paper. By the time you've based them half of the canister will be hidden by soil and grass anyway.

One idea I saw was that somebody had based his in a way that showed they had been dragged along the ground for a bit before the parachute finally folded. So a darker soil drag track - if you get my drift (no pun intended  =) ). It looked very realistic.

Thanks everyone for the help. I have some oW drop canisters hanging round somewhere. I will check if they are suitable.

Cheers!
