I've broken out FWC again after a long absence. Actually gives a better game than I remembered. Ideal for a solo hit out anyway, with the command rolls providing a lot of the fog of war/friction necessary.
The scenario was set in GDW's old Traveller universe, with the land-hungry 'big-cat' Aslan invading an Imperial world on the fringes of the empire. In the scenario they're seeking to capture the capital city and its spaceport from some mid-tech Planetary Defence Force types.
As an attack-defence scenario, I gave the attacking Aslan roughly twice as many bases as the PDF, and the Aslan had orbital strikes as fire support while the PDF had a couple of off-table artillery batteries. The Aslan had a mix of grav tanks and lift infantry, while the defenders had a small number of Trepida grav tanks, a couple of stands of grav tank-destroyers in ambush and some regular quality infantry.
I used "hits stay on" because I wanted the game to move along reasonably fast, and because with a lot of urban terrain I wanted to avoid the FWC problem of needing a whole lot of lucky sixes in one turn to kill infantry in buildings if hits come off at the end of the turn.
The battle therefore moved along at a good clip, with the Aslan initially taking quite a few losses as they advanced in the open spaces towards the city and starport. But numbers told, as did the Aslan grav tanks which I'd given 6/100cm main guns. A few orbital strikes helped the Aslan clear out some pesky infantry and tank destroyers from the city, and the PDF reached their Breakpoint well before the Aslan were in any danger of reaching their own.
Some photos attached - excuse the resolution as I had to shrink them down to fit inside this forum's restrictions on attachment size.

Nice photos and thanks for posting :)
I started my Commander gaming with FWC and it is still my favorite of all 3 sets of rules. Pete had learnt a lot from the BKC & CWC sets and many of the FWC mechanisms were refined from that experience. With the launch of the Korean War supplement (for BKCIV) imminent and the next batch of CWCII army lists well advanced - my mind is starting to turn towards FWCII.
Keep the reports coming :D

Very good, not often we see FWC reports. I have a copy of the rules but confess I've never played (nor have any models or terrain to sci-fi stuff at all).
One day maybe!
