This was on The BBC website. its looks like a WW2 vintage Russian Maxim.

If  it shoots and you have ammo... especially from static strongpoint... use it.
Not all that long ago, Brit snipers were using late model Lee Enfields.

40 yrs, withdrawn after the Falklands. Accuracy on those maxims must be a tad suspect given the age. Lands will have had a load of wear.

Apparently some of  them have had  red dot sights added.
