Hello all,
I fancy doing something a bit different and have found the above mentioned vehicle conversion while messing around with Wikipedia.

Website with info. on the conversion and Australian / NZ military use (http://anzacsteel.hobbyvista.com/Armoured%20Vehicles/m113a1fsvph_1.htm)
What I was wondering was, if I took a Saladin model and a M113 model from the Pendraken ranges, bodged them together in a conversion, would that be correct - or am I missing something obvious?

The FSV conversion was, literally, marrying a Saladin turret onto a modified M113A1 through the method of a roof connecting plate. Surely I can achieve the same result with some Pendraken models? (after some modifying/converting)
If anyone knows different, or can offer advise, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thats pretty much how the original was built. There is also a later version with the Scorpion turret.
Depends on how much of a stickler for accuracy you are, at a guess.
Personally, I'd be perfectly happy wit the Pendraken parts being married. Providing all concerned know what it is the fine detail is not necessary, IMHO.
There again I've happily played a game of Chain of Command with a PzIV/70 made from a Kellog's Assortment Box with a straw pushed through the front and PzIV/70 written in Sharpie on the top, so take my advice with that in mind :)
The main difference is the hull roof of the M113 - you have to file off the central cupola and rear roof hatch - if you want the turret to rotate drill a hole for the turret peg in the centre of where the central cupola is - then add a paper/card spacer
This is the JB Models 1/76 version:

Thanks for the replies - and really useful photograph :-bd
I was pretty certain it was achievable but, I just had this little voice in my head speaking words of doubt;
:d "It can't be that obvious"
Order made, including a Saladin a M113 and some track for turrets.
I'll update this thread, with a link to the section of this forum with my work/pictures, when I get going.
