Hello everyone, I'm Federico from Milano, Italy.
I'm painting since last decade of the last century, that is more than 30 years now ... :>
Me and my chaps are lucky enough to have a little "bunker" or a cave if you wish, specifically dedicated to our painting and wargaming beloved hobby.
As many of us, we got hooked by good old GW stuff getting there from D&D rpg.
At the moment (among other things) we're using Alto Comando rules (High Command) by Riccardo Affinati, there's the english version somewhere on the web. It's an fast and easy set of rules for WWII divided in 6 principal scenarios (North Africa, Greece, Italy, Russia, Normandy and Pacific) using divisional perspective (a single base being a battalion 500/1000 men strong).
Our set is the North Africa campaign. I recently added some flags, though it's not historically correct it helps keeping track of my divisional HQs on the field (plus flags always look terribly good).
At the moment I can deploy the 7th armored division, a New Zealand infantry brigade, the 6th Australian infantry division and the 4th Indian infantry division (in this set of rules a British infantry division is formed by 1 HQ base, 9 infantry bases, 2 artillery bases and a single recon base).
My next step will be taking the brigade to a complete armored division.
My friend is mustering a remarkable force of those pesky Italians - luckily poorly equipped and badly commanded...
We started collecting and painting Pendraken miniatures less than one year ago and this December we had our first fight on Western Africa territories, but the core of our campaign will be set in Libya (and hopefully in Tunisia).
I saw some beautiful photos around here and lot of great contents too, glad to be here!
Federico,
welcome to the forum!
I have been looking with envy at your entries to the painting competition! Good luck with those.
I look forward to pictures of your games!
Mike
Welcome Fredrico
Your WW2 stuff looks very nice. The flags are a good way to distinguish the various HQ units.
Cheers from NZ

Welcome ! :)
Welcome on board Frederico 8) . I haven't been to Milano since the late 1980's, but always loved the vibe of the city.
Welcome, Federico! I like the sound of your project. Please do share photos of your troops in action.
Enjoy the forum!

Hi and enjoy
Welcome Frederico :-h
Thanks for the explanation of your forces. As others have said they look very impressive in the painting competition. I was struggling to work out how they represented the forces you mentioned
Thank you all for you warm welcome and kind words.

The set we're using is very simple, aiming not to represent specifically a unit or an equipment but the tactical approach to the battle. In the widest scenario (the Tunisian campaign) I could deploy up to 7 divisions, meaning 70ish bases between British, American and French forces. It's a very large "zoom out", we could play on a map with the right scale. Something like being in the Headquarters and setting the general plan.

Ah, I found them in the painting competition (thanks, Paul). Very nice!
Thank you guys, there are some very inspiring works in the past competitions archive and on Pendraken site as well.
I'm not starting a painting diary for which I saw there's a specific section, but suffice to say that I choose a very simple approach, with a base coat, a general wash and a highlight. We often tend to make things harder than necessary.
I find more important at 10mm scale the general aspect of the whole unit, rather than the 4th layer of highlights on the canteen pouch webbing (I guess you know what I mean).
Welcome Federico - good to have you on board.
I did like the look of yours and ale's armies in the painting competition. I was guessing they were based for Megablitz - do you have a link for the Alto Command rules, I've always been interested in high level rules, but not found a set that is playable?
Welcome Frederico, and good luck in the painting competition.

Thank you Fred.
I'm struggling in finding a suitable link who doesn't require to log in for the download, but here it is.
EDIT: Link removed as website known for copyright infringementIf you search for HIGH COMMAND Riccardo Affinati maybe you can find something better.
The only English scenario I've got is the Eastern front, so here it is
