Title: Figure range compatability?
Post by: meconicuk on 02 October 2022, 08:28:26 AM
Are the French Revolutionary range of figures compatible with the new American war of Independence Range?

I wouldn't thing so unfortunately, the Rev ranges are quite a chunky sculpting style so they'd be a lot 'heavier' and potentially a bit taller than the AWI ranges.

That's a shame. They looked as if they could be used alongside the AWI French.

I think in different units you'd be OK, but mixing them on a base would be too noticeable.

As far as I know the crested helmet was not introduced until 1791

I found that the AWI ranges are a bit chunky themselves when I wanted to use the standard bearers from the Hessians with my SYW Prussians.

For my 1786 armies, I found that the crews that come with the AWI British artillery packs, mixed with a few crew figures from AWA18 worked quite well.

The AWI French artillery, which have just been released, could work even better.

Funny you should ask, I recently picked up some AWI dragoons as a mounted supplement to my French Revolution infantry. While I haven't painted any of the cavalry yet I can always post some comparison pictures.

Generally, I have observed they are of two different styles. The French Revolution sculpts are a bit small and have a caricature style to them. The AWI are more anatomically normal. I like both ranges very much.
