Title: India c.18th.
Post by: GridGame on 22 September 2022, 10:20:05 PM
I was considering wargaming the Anglo-Indian wars from about 1750-1800. This would include Plassey & the 4 Mysore wars but not as late as the Indian Mutiny.

I have scanned the catalogue and the Forum but have no idea of suitable proxies: can anyone help?

I can only think some of the Colonial ranges might have some stuff in them, such as the Afghans for some of the infantry at a stretch. Ditto the Ottomans in the Renaissance ranges. For cavalry the aforementioned and some of the East African Sudan campaign etc again might be of use. Not much help probably...

Not quite your time period, but matchlocks are matchlocks, swords are swords and elephants are elephants.

A lit of proxies for the Indian Ocean: 1500 - ????.

Scroll down to "Combined Indian Lists" for the local forces.

I have always loved this period - I was sort of 'brung-up' on it all, as I had great grandparents that spent most of their lives out in eastern India.

I had thought about commissioning a 10mm range of figures as nobody seems to do the early Sepoys. But need to finish off my other commissioned project 1st.

What set of rules are you planning on using?

Central Atlantic maybe
Central and South, but not Southern Pacific, maybe
Arctic, will require a lot more global warming ;)
