Title: Tiny Wargames
Post by: Ithoriel on 01 August 2022, 06:59:25 PM
Anyone else having a problem with Tiny Wargames? Or have the gods just decided to add to my woes?

Ordered a mat from them back in mid-May, got an email telling me it had shipped a couple of weeks later. So far so good.

About a third of the way into June I still hadn't received it so queried the delay and was told it looked as though it was lost in transit and another would be sent. Given that they'd used Evri, the rebranded Hermes, and that the wags in the local pharmacy queue had quipped when the rebrand was announced that now Evri parcel would be lost, stolen or damaged I wasn't as surprised as I might have been.

Since then Tiny have shuffled back and forth between saying Evri claimed to have delivered it and promising a replacement. And now seem to have stopped responding at all.

I will confess that with a background of dealing with my late mother's estate, divorcing my wife, replacing a central heating and hot water boiler that, to be fair, had the decency to die a death in June not January, coping with a bout of Covid on top of my other  health problems and losing the crowns on two teeth I may not have been as on top of things as much as I would normally have been. But even I couldn't miss the delivery of a 6'x4' battle mat!

I've dealt with Tiny in the past and until now would have said excellent products and excellent service.

So, anyone know of any extenuating circumstances?

And any suggestions where to go for a mat with a 50mm square grid given this one seems permanently AWOL and I don't intend to make my own? Preferably one not using Evri as courier.

Tiny Wargames.

Harsh as it may sound, it's their legal responsibility to fulfill their contract with you, and that includes delivery. What Evri did with it isn't your concern.
Your contract was with Tiny Wargames.
It's their problem with Evri not yours.
They need to fulfill the contract and get a mat to you.
There's a phone number on their web page, I presume they aren't answering that either?
Send them an email making time of the essence - what was the original expected delivery time? Make that length of time the new 'of the essence time' and say that if a mat is  not delivered by that date time you will need to take action in a small claims court, including a small amount for your time and effort in trying to get them to fix this problem.

It is almost certainly Evri's fault, but your contract is with Tiny, not Evri and you don't have to chase Evri. Nor is it your problem if Evri are being awkward with Tiny. Tiny need to fulfill your contract or refund the money.

PS - sorry to hear about all the other stuff!

Hi Ithoriel,

I have never had any issue with Tiny wargames. They sent me the wrong mat once and a simple phone call sorted it. I returned the mat and received another a couple of weeks later.

I have seen some similar issues on the TMO consumer board about Tiny Wargames. Suggest you take a look.

What gwydion says is right. I suggest you make a note of the timeline of the whole issue. Send it to them in a letter with recorded delivery, making time of the essence and giving them  a reasonable time period to correct it.

If you do not get a response in that time, raise a small claims court claim against them _ I suspect that will get them focused and you will not need to go further.

The only issue I've ever had with Tiny is when they sent me two orders exactly the same..
Sent a courier to collect at their own expense even when I offered to pay.

Funnily enough Dave is waiting on a Tiny mat at the moment, although I think the delays on his are due to him not confirming the final design.  I'm not aware of any other circumstances at the moment but we don't know the chap that well, we only spoke for the first time at a recent show and he seemed a nice guy.

I suppose it comes down to how much you want the mat?  Would you prefer to keep trying contact in an attempt to get the product eventually, or would you prefer to write this off and try somewhere else?

Legal letters aren't likely to get the product delivered to you and will more than likely just result in a refund.  Depending on how you paid then letters might not be needed anyway, if it was through PayPal then you can just raise a dispute and PayPal will refund you the money.

There are two email addresses listed on his website as well, have you tried both of them?

I think, given their history of these problems (vide TMP), they just aren't up to snuff in the logistics and shipping department. A pity; they've seemed honest, even generous, to me, and I love their stuff.

I wonder if they've had a hard hit in the magazine from COVID themselves?

I have six Tinywargames mats and have had delivery problems with three of them.  In one case the order simply disappeared from their records, despite credit card payment being taken, in two they were supposedly sent but I never received them.  To be fair I got my mats in the end, after a degree of perseverance, and my impression is just that of incompetence.

I see they've stopped doing mousepad and double-sided. Something's not going well somewhere.

I would agree with this, I have talked to him a couple of times at shows, and he appears genuine. I wonder if lack of cash flow means he is reluctant to produce a replacement mat until he has got compensation from the courier? Something which I believe is very time consuming.
