Title: advice needed on trains
Post by: Sunray on 09 February 2011, 07:31:08 PM
When I shifted to 10mm, one former 15mm gamer said, ' Oh you will soon have tons of N gauge railway cluttering up the table!'

Well perhaps not tons, but I do have the odd game that involves a railway....and railways need trains.

freight cars are cheap on ebay...and a good spot to #branch out# on trees ! But...engines are rich.
All I need is a few 'dummy# engines.  Any advice on sourcing same ? steam would be nice...

Have seen some Deisel "dummies" from Dapol on Durham Trains of Stanley site for £24

But like you I am on look out for steam too, I may contact Durham Trains for a chat, may me easier than beating myself up with google.

I'd ask at a model train shop - I'm sure non-running trains must go pretty cheaply.

OO that maybe a use. We do need a few trains and related bits.

Would the Boar war armoured trains fit the n guage stuff?

You might try to find some of the Del Prado N-scale loco's. They're collectibles, so prices may vary. But the common ones can be found pretty cheap, I got two different for 10 Euros. Picked up at a show by a collegue who's into model railroading.

Oh, and if anyone finds a class 52 Kriegslok, give me a shout!

Thanks for all the good int.  Yes, I settled for a Del Prado non runner (£5.50 plus postage) and a little tank engine (Thomas?) Glad to see Gem model railways got a mention. See previous thread on civvie cars. They are my source for Landrovers, tankers, and low loaders. Not to mention some class light aircraft.

Has anyone ever used cheap n gauge figures for refugees ?

Thanks guys.

Yep I use the N guage civis in our VBCW and Caccara battles.
Some got shot by the BUF on a blunder roll while playing BKC :-[

More recuits for Sandanista after that little mess in Surrey =)

I've just bought a 'shredded wheat' non running n guage 060 loco. Was told by a railway buff that  the del prado loco was too big for the irish branch line.
