Title: Entreating advice
Post by: FierceKitty on 12 April 2022, 08:30:40 AM
I've used a bit of matt aerosol artist's fixative on a few AFVs, and it's come out glossy. Any magic method to redress and repair this?

I've no experience of using artist's fixative - is it really a varnish?  Anyway, I think my solution would be to apply a matt varnish, such as Vallejo's, by brush.  The only other observation I would make, which is no help at all in resolving your problem, is that aerosols are nothing but trouble generally, and best avoided.

Hmmm. I normally use them, but this is an unfamiliar type. I'll try painting on a low-tech coat, as you advise.

A second coat of a different brand has tamed the glossy finish, though not quite entirely.

Hmmm, just the right effect for North Africa, 1942.
