Title: Movement questions

I was wondering how you handle knocked out units, I read in the book that they could be left on the table or removed.  I would like to leave them on.  I read they don't block line of sight.

So, my question is...Do they block line of fire and movement?

Then I have to wonder, how it would be for AFVs to push them out of the way if necessary?

Another thing I was trying to figure out.... Can AFVs move through friendly Inf, or do they go around?

1st Welcome to bedlam. In answer to your second question units can pass through, the base is an area occupied by the element not solid with troops. You can't stack though.

The answer to the 1st question is up to you, do what you feel is right.

Knocked units do not affect the movement or LOS/LOF of units as they are are no longer in the game

Troops may move through unsuppressed friendly units
Troops may not move through suppressed units.

This is the first tabletop wargame I've played since the mid to late 70s.
It's a bit overwhelming to me.  I've been lurking the forum a while now and
that has been a huge help.

Welcome!

It can be quite hard to pick up a game like BKC straight from the book, especially if you don't have experience with similiar recent rules. 

Probably worth a look on you tube for some examples of BKC game - it won't matter too much which version of BKC. 

To start with I would just focus on 
Commanders
Movement
Shooting

And start with battles with just infantry and tanks. Then add in guns, transports. Then off table artillery, then Recce. This way you can probably get to grips with the core rules, and then learn the extra bits. Fortunately with BKC a lot of the rules and mechanisms build on each other. Eg while calling in artillery is different to direct shooting it has similarities to command rolls and is evaluated the same as other shooting.

Thanks Paulr and Fred,  I agree 100%, learning from the book has been a challenge. The forum has been great.
I haven't found much help so far in videos.  But, I was limiting myself to version 4.
 
Back when we were young, our group all played Angriff in 1:72 scale.  We only used AFVs, AT guns and on table art.
We loved it, we thought Inf was just cannon fodder (didn't bother with it), wished for aircraft, and we all
wanted to be the Germans.  We had fun, but were clueless.

Fast forward 40+ years, I have been putting together 10mm Pendraken German, Soviet, and American armies.
I like how balanced they feel to me.  No more only wanting to be German.  So far we have only played with AFVs, Inf, and Command.  So, I am on track there.  I am very much looking forward to eventually incorporating all elements into our battles.

I've been through my rule book so many times, the binding fell apart. I had to get it spiral bound at my local office supply store.  I think BKC is great and will eventually have it all figured out  :-\
