Title: Timecast
Post by: kipt on 23 March 2022, 03:11:41 PM
Just got a notice that Timecast is looking for a buyer for the business by the end of the year.  They plan to operate as normal this year but plan to get out of the business.

Yep , just spent an hour going through website.

Even if they find a buyer, no guarantee it will be based in UK

Well That was an expensive piece of information to receive.

Mrs Orcs said " You had better get all you need" so I did  :)

Yes, I just bought some extra bits for the latex rivers I have. Mainly Bridges and fords.  I also bought 6 feet of the narrowest river. I have not used my 6mm stuff for years , but "Just in case".

I once saw a link to an ebay sale, for some sort of mid-life crisis toy - either a large motorcycle/sports car or a project restoration "classic" car. I forget which.

The chap had put "Reason for sale - "Do whatever you want" doesn't mean what I thought it meant".

Perhaps you could have saved money by buying the entire business.

QRF seem to getting new owners as they have approached my friend who is pro painter to do some work for them.

I also really hope Timecast find a new owner. I can be guilty of looking at things and thinking I'm going to do that one day. Then something happens and there is no one day  :-\

Who are EE, Nathan?

The very nice preprinted scenery range Pendraken carry - Escenagrafica Epsilon.

I gather age and cost has caught up with him as well (dangerous trend, as my increasingly tired bones tell me!).

I think Oscar found that a fun part-time hobby business was becoming more of a stressful full-time responsibility, which wasn't what he wanted from it.  It's something that a lot of the smaller businesses hit at some point, and with the profits in this industry being as they are, much of the time it's not financially viable to quit the day job and go full-time in the hobby.

Yeah, I can imagine - it goes from doing something you love into a huge chore, a huge chore that actually doesn't pay off in any meaningful way :(
