Title: Libertad
Post by: Sean Clark on 12 March 2022, 09:04:32 AM
I've been reading Libertad and was pleased to see a scenario for the Jarama. An iconic battle that depicts the British contingent of the International brigade being assaulted by the tough Army of Africa.

The scenario states infantry company numbers rather than the platoons seen in the army lists. So the British have 3 companies in a Battalion.

Is this 3 bases, where a base represents a company, or is it 3 companies made up if a number of platoons? If so, where can I find the information for the British, the Dimitrov Battalion and the Moroccan tabors?

3 platoon (units/bases) per company - so 9 infantry bases in total
I'm not sure where you'd find the detailed info on the forces  - I need to go back to my core research, but from what I can remember there was very little to go on. But I'll come back to you on that.
Cheers
Mark

Have a look at the thread here.  It should provide you with most of what you are looking for.  Essentially both sides used a three rifle company one MG company organisation with rifle companies divided into three sections of two platoons (the Spanish used the term sección for platoon and pelotón for what every other army calls a section or equivalent) each sección had three escuadras of six men, one of which included a LMG.
