Title: British analysis of the performance of the BEF in France 1940
Post by: pierre the shy on 10 March 2022, 06:36:27 AM
Came across this recently while looking for something completely different, but thought it might be of interest here. (My message bar is not working at the moment).

Post-Dunkirk official British analysis of the performance of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in France 1939 - 40:

Thanks for this, which I look forward to reading when I have a quiet moment or two:).

Thanks for that.  An interesting document.  I had a quick look at it in order to see if it mentioned anything about the differences in performance of some of Territorial v Regular units.  The behaviour of some regular battalions was disappointing while some Territorials punched well above their weight.  I think the consensus these days is that the BEF in 1940 was not nearly as good as the BEF in 1914.
