Started because we were told not to comment in the entry thread.
I can stay silent no longer. Even though some of the usual suspects will still be honing their winning entries at midnight on the 27th. Its terrific stuff so far. Especially loving the geese and I just had to =D> =D> the medieval muslims. So that's my 2028 project sorted! (unless the macedonians appear first)
The standard is incredibly high. I don't know how you do it chaps.
And who would risk voting against the army of God?

Ta very much. I thought they'd be something a little different and they're REALLY nice models that probably not too many people have noticed.
Thanks Dave for starting this. Must agree the Mediaeval Muslims in the desert are jaw dropping!

My immediate thought was "At last, an army with camel coloured camels".
It's an excellent display.

Indeed.
Any of our forum gurus or the army owner care to recommend 10mm camel painting techniques with vallejo/army painter/whatever codes ? :-/ Like horses they have multiple tones and off whitey bits. You have until 2029 to reply. :D
Submitted some items for the competition, a lot of fantastic entries this year (like always). Hoping to paint a few more and photograph them before the deadline, good luck to everyone! For anyone interested in the backstory behind my entries, more information here: http://lecoqfou.blogspot.com/2022/02/more-pendraken-painting-competition-2022.html (http://lecoqfou.blogspot.com/2022/02/more-pendraken-painting-competition-2022.html)
Great looking entries and it definitely looks like a Scimitar to me :-bd =D> :-bd =D>
I think you meant Blues & Royals rather than Blues and Greys :-/
Things are definitely hotting up.

X_X X_X Haha! Oh brother, I guess as an American that "blue and grey" just seemed like a such a natural thing to write while I was making the post even if it was wrong. ;D ;D
Well I think I've managed to upload my athenian Hoplites after a bit of faffing about with imgur😁 my first attempt at painting 10mm figures and I have to say I was very impressed, great detail and almost no flash. So now it's 🤞 😂
I was just looking at your hoplites, smashing work. Love the vibrant colors, they really pop. Are they based for a specific set of rules?

Seconded. So that's 2031 sorted and 3rd Para have clearly been done at 28mm and shrunk by some magic process.
Thanks guys. I'm converting the great battles of history board game 'hoplite' into a miniatures game, hence the weird hex bases ;D
genial
Just finished painting up the final entry for the single base category, I think my eyes, back and hands need a break! Anyway, for a bit of background on it here is more: http://lecoqfou.blogspot.com/2022/02/james-scott-duke-of-monmouth.html (http://lecoqfou.blogspot.com/2022/02/james-scott-duke-of-monmouth.html)
Stupendous and inspirational work coming in now. =D>

I hope they don't check the mental age ;)
First time i've entered after lurking for years. I was scared off of the historical competitions by the amazing standard of work there! The Muslims and the Tirailliers are just outstanding. Two good examples from different ends of the gaming spectrum.
The Hoplites and Napoleonics are very special too, all in all not a single weak entry anywhere!
Well welcome Baron lurker.
I agree, what some can achieve is incredible.
For me, I am happy to see pics of any fellow nutter enthusiast's work that has something other than a single coat of spray primer.
But I remember that WAS a good game. Long before they turned phones into cameras though. :D
Welcome Baron :-h
Managed to get a new video card for my computer just in time (and its not easy finding woprking bits for an 11 year old computer)
Some incredible entries as always and I finally managed to snap some pics for a few entries this afternoon. As always it's going to be hard to select your favourites, given the quality of work already on show.
Good luck everyone. It's an amazing spread of work from some very talented people.
I have to say that early on I thought I had a reasonable chance in a few categories but now... well, whoever wins definitely deserves it. Quality entries all around ladies and gents!
=D> :-bd Just voted and found it very tough. Especially in the pre-20C foot where it took me 4 "pass throughs" to get down to the top 10. My apologies to all those I didn't vote for because I would have done if I was allowed more votes. I hope the artists in every category enjoyed creating their entries as much as I enjoyed drooling over them. =P~ =P~
PS if someone out there could help me better the UK's usual showing in the Eurovision song contest that would be nice! B) 8->

This is how I feel, so many brilliant entries (including many of yours) and such stiff competition. Always incredibly impressed at the levels of brushwork out there. Good luck to all!
It wasn't easy to narrow the foot entries down to five.
You were able to vote? Nothing showing for me via unread posts. Off for a proper check now!
I didn't see them via unread posts either :(
Found them in the Painting Comp section (no surprise there) but no idea why they didn't show via the Unread Posts button. Anyway, votes in and as always, very hard to narrow down to 5 votes per category. Bon chance to all who entered!

I create them ahead of time in a separate area of the Forum, so that might be why they don't appear as Unread posts.
Good luck everybody.
And congratulations to Leon for getting everything collated so neatly on the voting pages.
Voted.
I have to say chaps - Stunning entries this year! Congrats to all entrants for showcasing what is possible with the "wee men".
Just been through voting (well apart from armies, saving that for another time!) there are some really great entries. The pre-20th century foot was particularly strong - had 10 in my first top 5!
Five votes per category this year and it's still difficult to choose. Well done everyone. Good luck.
I am extremely fond of that AWI-army! And those syw-Bavarians by shrimproll are pieces of art! 2 para is great too! Good luck to all participants!
Cheers Fedja
Oooh, that muslim-army is fantastic too! Missed that somehow...
