Day 5 of 10mm releases sees us move away from figures and into some flags instead, with a full selection of brand new ACW flags now available!  We've been wanting to replace these for a while now and we took the opportunity to expand the designs at the same time.

Huge thanks must go to Rob Berends and Tony Hughes for all of the research and design work that went into these.

And as a special bonus for anyone that has ordered any of the existing flagsheets over the past 3 months, we'll replace your old flags with these new ones, free of charge!  All we ask is that you pay the postage cost on the replacements (£1 UK / £4.50 elsewhere).  Drop us an email and we'll get that sorted out for you.

They look great, and that is a generous offer.

The AWI flags next?

(particularly with the further raising of Pendraken's profile by LittleWarsTV?)

I'd really like to update the AWI flags but I need to look into it a bit more.  I don't think Tony Hughes has those in his current designs so it would mean starting from scratch and sourcing all of the reference material.  I did see some online from the Grimsby club I think, so I might have a chat with one of the guys down there about it.

Alas, I'm ignorant about the commercial viability of approaching any of the existing flag suppliers listed in this thread:-

It's tempting and I've looked through a couple of the ranges from the companies mentioned.  The only reason I haven't contacted them yet was the sheer breadth of designs available and how much it could cost to license all of the designs, or how difficult it could be pare them down to something more manageable.  I'll have a think.

Yes, not straightforward. Pared down to a reasonably sized, somewhat 'generic' selection should be ideal as a starter pack for basic entry level collectors with, say, a link to the designer's site for the more avid collector who wishes to additionally include the more obscure units in his/her collection (an arrangement that might suit both you and designer).

Clearly, the 'starter pack' would have to cover the main flags (e.g., the U.S. "Betsy Ross") and some of the most famous regiments (e.g., The Royal Welch Fusiliers in the AWI, etc.). For each era, hopefully the flag designer could provide an idea what 'the best sellers' are. I would guess that fellow forumites may also be able to put forward a good case for the inclusion of certain 'essential' flags (e.g., famous units based on campaigns participated in, battle record, etc.).

A very generous offer Leon

AWI flags are very complicated, there is a lot of contradictory 'evidence' and not many good primary sources

During my research the most consensus I found was that the Guilford Courthouse flag was not flown at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse

It seems to me that if you are going to produce an AWI range in 10mm it needs to cover all the participating units.
Flags of War have about as comprehensive a range of British, German, American and French flags as you could hope for.  They are where I go to for my flags, mainly because their British stuff is accurate - no oversized central designs that most suffer from.  I just buy 28mm, scan and resize them.
GMB Design also have a comprehensive range in 28mm and 15mm.
