Title: Dalek Weapon
Post by: Heedless Horseman on 12 December 2021, 05:04:34 AM
Just curiosity, so NO sweat!
What capabilities for Dalek 'gun'? What was it? Just anti personnel or anti armour capable? Range?
It seemed to evolve... as with the sink plunger / grab.
There must be assessments! lol.

As small child, Daleks were Great! But by late 60s/early 70s, I had lost interest in Who... Pertwee etc. got too silly. Have not watched any since.

Could never figure out why Army didn't just Blat the things with tanks, arty or Charlie Gs?

Just curiosity. Was looking a pics of Mechs and wondered about Mechs vs Daleks.

Actually... should just have Googled... all there on Wiki!

Mechs !.....Don't talk to me about Mechs !  X_X

(The reason I now try and avoid almost any straight line work.)

Cheers - Phil Marvin.

LOL. I seem to recollect similar wording and intonation from a manager trying to evict Van Crews from 'kit room'!  ;D

Hey! Will still have green 'wooly pully' somewhere! 2nd incarnation... first, (Not a 'proper' one), was worn for garden from early teens to mid 20s... got so saggy and tattered it was like a mini dress with 'peep holes'... thrown out by Ma!  :'(  2nd, (Proper!), hardly worn, but might be wort digging out! It's cold!  ;)
I presume they are still 'kit'? As a student, I was envious of others who had 'proper' Army Surplus jackets / overcoats... but 'My' dress had gone along different path by then.

I remember wishing that Airfix would bring out a Dr. Who set... but never did.  :(

When Boots the Chemist sold the boxes off cheap I got some Lego-style figures of Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels and Silence plus David Tennant's Dr Who with a vague notion of using them for a multiplayer game where the players were the baddies and the object was to capture The Doctor and move him off board.

As with so many of my projects, Covid has put paid to that, meantime at least.

I'm pretty sure Dalek weapons one-shot tanks being weapons powered entirely by narrative imperative.

In the Whooniverse, the Brigadier commanded four men with berets and FN rifles.

They'd have been thankful for a PIAT.

At least one had an even worse weapon - a Stirling.... Although I seem to remember a Charlie G killing a Dalek

Daleks remind me of the Matilda 1.

Plenty of armour, poor mobility and all the offensive power of an eggbeater and a sink plunger.

The capabilities if a Dalek gun are exactly what the script writer needs at that point, no more, no less.

And that is the most accurate answer you will see on any wargames forum, ever.
