Has anyone suggested a model of a Loyd carrier before? I'd like some to tow my 6 pounder anti tank guns.
While I'm at it, it would be nice to see some ammo crates too.
Cheers.
I'm not sure Chris, but I think it has been mentioned before. As for ammo crates, there used to be a selection of wooden boxes etc in the German WWII section, so worth heading over there for a peek.
As this is your first post, welcome to the forum :).
It's perfectly ok to use Universal Carriers as 6pdr tows. Lloyd was the offical vehicle, b ut universal seems to be prefered. Not looked at the catalouge but the 1940 Lt Dragoon trcator is a good substitue, certainly seen the reverse done.
Thanks guys, in the absence of Loyd carriers I will probably just use universal carriers for tows for the 6 pounders.
I hadn't noticed the crates hidden away in the German WWII section, who knew the Germans were so much better supplied than the British.
I use the Universal Carrier for my 6 pdr tows in the absence of anything else. Works for me.
Welcome Chris :-h
Welcome to the madhouse Chris.
Regards
Sean
Hello and welcome. Good request.

Not after I welcome him to the forum, surely ? :o
A very warm welcome, Chris. :-h

But the wee men know. They know.
Wotcha Chris.
My 6pdrs are dragged by Universal Carriers. (I am waiting for something to pull my Airborne 17pdrs, but that's another story.)
Please tell us some more about your project. British presumably, but what period and theatre? Pictures are also appreciated.
Also, be nice to Techno II. He makes some of the wee men and productivity drops when he sulks. A few things you should know about him:
- he seems to know everyone who has made figures. Drop a name in and he will unaffectedly be able to provide some anecdote.
- he loves the music of ABBA (has been known to shed a tear watching the video for "Knowing me, knowing you")
- is somewhat of an accidental self mutilator
- has no sense of direction (once spent three days finding his way home from the newsagent),
- Has a tattoo of Edif Piaf on what he is pleased to call his calf muscle. Nobody knows why, and Techno isn't saying.
- Is a very nice man
- Can't tell an AR15 from a Arbalest, but makes great figures anyway
- Obviously has very bad dreams (see the fantasy monsters)
- Was a favoured model for Alberto Giacometti
- Is a very nice man
- Is a moderator of the Forum but is sparing with his god-like powers.
- Spent two years as a "bear whisperer" in a bizarre period in Canada
I may have confused Techno with some other people in some of these facts, but you get the gist.
Oh.....the temptation to change 'some' of the above post.
You OIK, Nobby. X_X
Abba !! ? :o....My Gluteus maximus.
Cheers - Phil ;)
Nobby you need Morris 30cwt, many converted from 2pdr portees, the one in the old matchbox kit. Delivered by Hamilcar.

Yes. Thank you. That's what I'm using at the mo', but I do hanker for the airborne variant.

Hang on. Are you saying the Pendraken 2pdr Portee is suitable for converting? :-\

Ah! So that's your favourite track. Written about Agneta's most memorable feature (after her voice, of course)?

@ChrisH: Apologies. Thread derailment is something of an art form in this forum.
See the swedes did use the AR15 ;)
;D ;D ;D
Nobby - not certain about the Pendraken portee, the dester ones were on a longer chaiss I think, certaily the Heroics and Ross one is.
Thank you all for the welcome messages.
I am currently building a supported late war British rifle company for use with I Ain't Been Shot Mum, but hoping to be able to base them so I can use the same figures and models for Blitzkrieg Commander. Progress is slow but steady, I have painted most of my infantry and a selection of tanks and carriers. Next up are my 6 pounders, hence the question about Loyd carriers.
Once I have finished the British I will start work on a matching German force...
Nobby - just looked through the catalouge - yes the 2pdr portee can be converted to a 17pdr airbourn tractor. Be a big job I suspect.

Anything more than lopping off the 2pdr is a bit beyond me. :(
Yes, I have painted a troop of Sherman tanks with a Firefly, I just need to add transfers and finish them. I have a troop of Churchills to paint up too.
Good man!
Definitely need some photos.
