Used have ione of their albums - vynl of course....
I ascribe my longevity to never liking that new fangled stuff and sticking with Elvis.
I used to have a copy of "Argus" back in my uni days. Just listened to "Warrior," "The King Will come" and "Throw down the sword" .... can't believe I used to like this stuff!
Give me Dua Lipa, Joyce Jonathan or even k-pop any day. Something to dance to .... well, shuffle and twitch to these days :)
I still enjoy Argus from time to time.
Got 10, or so, of their earlier albums on CD.
Cheers - Phil. :)

Can't say I have ever heard of them.
1972, Jim.
Best rock album of the year, and top British Album, as voted by 'Sounds' and 'Melody Maker'.
Cheers - Phil. ;)
Heard of them but never heard them. Late 50's and 60's are my time👨🦳🤪

Naw, still listened to The Beatles then when I wasn't having hearing problems which resulted in a couple of bouts (maybe three) of surgery.

1972? Slade and T-Rex and Crazy Horses. And a whole load of other stuff I can't remember and is probably embarrassing as hell anyways.

I didn't say I was up to date in 1972.
It's 2021 and I still listen to The Beatles. And I still have trouble with my hearing.
1972.
Wasn't even born!
1972.
Machine Head - Deep Purple
Foxtrot - Genesis
Close to the edge - Yes
Roxy Music - Roxy Music.
I'm sure those weren't the only albums I bought that year.......By a lot. ;)
Dark side of the Moon - First live performance.
Cheers - Phil. :)
1972
I'd expand that purchase list with:
Black Sabbath - Vol. 4
Blue Oyster Cult - B.O.C.
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
Hawkwind - Doremi Fasol Latido
Lou Reed - Transformer
Status Quo - Piledriver
Thin Lizzy - Shades of a Blue Orphanage
Uriah Heep - Magician's Birthday
I may also have bought Slayed but not sure that's cool to list :o
In 1972 I had just gone to uni and discovered live music was not just Gilbert and Sullivan (annual trip to see whatever show Dad and his brothers were in) or church music (a decade spent as a choirboy) but included Rock, Folk and Pop.
Ah, the heady days of the Festival Fringe, seeing half a dozen shows in a day and spending around a quid for the privilege!

Slayed ?.....No..That's
not cool. ;)
B/S Vol 4......Worth having for 'Supernaut' alone.
BOC.....Love a
load of their stuff.
Hawkwind ?...DRMEFSOLATIDO......Never sure why I replaced that on CD. ....Met them a GW, when I took a few piccies of them.
I WAS impressed (I've said this before) when I was asked, "Is it alright if we roll a spliff,"....and I said, "I'd rather you didn't,".......and they were very good...and didn't make a fuss.
Quo ? ...saw them twice in a month on the early 'Piledriver tour'.......My ears were almost bleeding after the second 'gig'.......I couldn't hear a thing for a day and a half.
Lizzy....Great band.....I can still enjoy 'Live and dangerous', to this day.
Heep ?...Another of the early 'gigs' I went to.......Still love a load of their stuff.
Cheers - A Sad old F*rt. ;)
Blue Oyster Cult, Lou Reed, Thin Lizzy and some Hawkwind still sound good to me! What about The Moody Blues?
But then I was only 10 in 1972! :) :P
Moody Blues ?
Nowt wrong with them, Graham.
(Some bl**dy good tunes, over the years......"Lovely to see you again, my friend".....That's going back a good few 'minutes'.)
Cheers - Phil. :)

Funny enough Phil, we were just listening to that track last night (whilst we were waiting for friends to join us for a virtual cocktail hour on Zoom!)
:).....I really like that track, Graham.
Another favourite from '72...
Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick.
I still listen to that quite regularly. ;)
(I must go through my favourite bands' discographies.....and see what else I bought around that time....in vinyl, obviously. :D)
Cheers - Phil. :)
And finally...from '72. :D
Paladin - Charge.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Trilogy.
Groundhogs - Who will save the World.
Gentle Giant - Octopus
Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn.
Mott the Hoople - All the young dudes
Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds.
Cheers - Phil. :)
I would also add:
Dusty Springfield
Ken Dodd
Rambling Sid Rumpo
The Partridge Family
Mary Hopkin
Roy Rogers
Tiny Tim
For me 1972 would be
Joni Mitchell
Buffy Sainte Marie
Leonard Cohen
Carly Simon
James Taylor
Steeleye Span
Fairport Convention
In 1971 I was the proud owner of a Pinky and Perky flexi disk
but this got to Number 2 or thereabout in the charts.

After an evening with the 80's Pub juke box 'stuck' on Elvis... ALL Bl***DY night!... well, NOT a fan anymore! :o ;D
In 1971 I was more interested in Blue Peter and Animal Magic on the black and White telly than Top of the Pops.
Yes I was that young. ! ( "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....",) :)
Bought me 1st album - Led Zep 2, was looking for 3 but not avaliable in our local store.
Curved air...forgotten them.
Did like that tune though. :)
Cheers - Phil :)

Would have done the vinal no good at all :d
Well, back to topic!

LOL! How many times, late teens/early 20s, did I stagger back from Pub, full of booze and self inflicted pain... to lose myself in the 'Dark Age Epic' that was 'Argus'?
Somehow, it was always 'hopeful' ! :o ;D
Ha!
But, another, less so, but with 'passion' and 'expression'...

Tull 'Very eclectic'! But such imagery! 'Too Young', 'Heavy Horses'... :)
Also "Aqualung" (my first intoduction to Tull), "Songs from the Wood", "Thick as a Brick" or even "This Was"!
Used to have all the 'Tull vinyl from the year dot....Got LOADS of their CDs (25, from a quick count...including bootlegs) chronologically those start at 'Aqualung'......and finish with 'Thick as a Brick 2'.......(Which is really just Ian Anderson.)
Love a huge amount of their stuff.....But there are a few albums in the collection that are definitely a bit 'so-so'/'nothingy'.
Broadsword & The Beast is a belter !!! :-bd
Cheers - Phil :)
My dad has all the early Floyd on vinyl, that's how I discovered them.
My mum had the Grateful Dead...
Rumours on white vinyl, Led Zep IV on pink!
Save 'em, Will.
99% of my vinyl went to landfill, when we moved.
Only Floyd vinyl I've got now is a direct cut/half speed master of DSOTM......And it's been in one of the sheds, so long, it's probably completely boggered. (Sic) ;)
Cheers - Phil. :)

In 1972 I owned one record a Pinky and Perky flexi disc - which didnt play properly as the idiot postman had manged to damage it by folding it to get it throught the lettter box.
Got a big cabinet jammed solid with LPs/singles... will probably never get played again... my crappy stereo hasn't been used since mid 80s! :o
Ma's stuff from late 50s, plus film themes, Military Bands and MY later stuff... Skynyrd, Eagles, Outlaws, Floyd... and odd LPs/singles from various rock/ metal in the late 70s. Probably scratched to bits.
Think 'Jake The Peg' and 'Lost A Mammy' single still there! LOL! ;D
Annoyingly, the record that I DID have a hunt for, couple years back, couldn't be found. :'(
Had a 'Doctor Who' adventure from mid 60s...with Daleks... and, maybe, a City on stilts? Thought it might have been 'worthabit' to Fan/Collectors. But... a big box of 'kids stuff' went to a record shop 2h for a couple of quid when a student! :'(
Not My Bag, but some guys 'messin' with GOT theme on Fenders... looked liked they had Fun!
