I just got an order confirmation for the roll of magnetic sheet I bought via the Mrs. First she called me all upset, the supplier had confirmed a roll weight of 700 Kgs. After my initial panic subsided I did some quick math and realized that there had to be some mistake, and yes, someone added a zero on the wrong side of the number.
70 Kgs still seemed like a lot, though, I expected a roll of 30 wide, 10 m long, for 50 sheets of autoadhesive magnetics, that's only 0,003 square meters or 6 pints for all you metrically challenged :D so that would mean the sheet had a higher relative weight than steel, which, as we all know, is not the case.
I then found out they made another little mistake: they sent the 60 cm wide variety! And another little error: they sent a 30m roll, not a 10 m roll. So I better start ordering everything on offer in the Pendraken range, in order to fill up those X_X 300 sheets. Where I'm gonna store that lot in my already space challenged little hobby room, I have no idea. Plus I know have to first cut it along the length, instead of just unrolling the 30 cm wide sheet and cutting off as needed. >:(
Plus, although I asked to group it with the next delivery to my wife's company in order to cut transport cost, they decided I needed the stuff urgently and shipped it alone -on a euro pallet!- so now I can fork out the extra 63 Euro for transport as well! What a way to do business!

And you still claim it was a simple mistake? ;)
Elk foordeel hep z'n nadeel...
So if Minibits ever decide to start stocking magnets, you're the guy to come to?!

Positive thinking! I like that! Thank you Johan! ;)

Well, yeah, unless by some freak occurence I start buying more miniatures than I foresee. But that never happened before, so why should it now? ;D
sound like a real mess up, guess you will have every little thing on magnets now :-\

I already have plastic sheets 2 mm thick with magnetic sheet on both sides so I can work on a heap of units and then stick them on the whiteboard against the wall :) It's a brilliant material, but too much is too much =)
Sounds like a bit of a sticky situation...
OK the roll arrived today. I have confiscated my son's skateboard for now in order to be able to move it around my paint shack. I'm planning to make a cutting assistance tool so I can quickly cut it up into 20 cm wide sheets, which I can then easily cut into 2 A4 sheets. Considering I have now 300 of those sheets, I'm gonna try and sell 3/4 of them through e-bay or something, in order to recuperate at least part of the rather big amount this ended up setting me back.
If anyone is on the lookout for a load of A4 autoadhesive magnetic sheet, thickness 1 mm, do let me now! I can do 15 EUR per meter by 60 cm wiide (+ transport), that's about 1,5 EUR per A4 sheet (any format over A4 is possible and preferred :P). Definitely a bargain if you purchase a bit more in one go: 24x12" sheets (= about 3 A4 sheets) tend to cost $10, dunno about UK prices but probably similar. If you want like 10 m on a roll, uncut, I can make an even better price, I'm just looking to recuperate my unforeseen costs for the 20m extra.
Postage comes on top of that. For smaller qties I'll cut up to A4 coz it fits in an envelope, but I can roll up some and put it in a cardboard cylinder if you order enough.
Now's the time to go magnetic! :D
I could be interested in a few A4 sheets worth - if postage to the UK is OK, magnetic sheet can be quite heavy.
Say 50cm by 60cm - which I think is about 4 x A4 - either as 1 lot piece or a few smaller ones, which ever is easier to do.
3 A4 sheets in the UK usually cost me £5 including postage.
