Title: British Sniper Team
Post by: Stewart on 11 March 2021, 08:59:16 AM
Odd request at this scale, as I'm sure i could get away with just using the Marine Corps sniper.. or at a push the Russian/Japanese one.. maybe not the Falklands one though..
But I'd like to have a British Sniper Team set.
The spotter could also double as a decent Forward Observer...

A soild request. No sure when the "Gillie suit" became issue, but the sniper, prone, bedecked in scrim would be a useful addition. FOO/spotter always useful.

For late WW2 Brits, don't forget Korean range in cammo suits, woollen caps etc.

Add me in for those. Sniper in ghille suit would be good for the Falklands war as well.

Or ... just buy a 10mm haystack and drill an appropriate hole & stick in a length of wire or pin as the barrel poking out  :D

you are such a spoilsport Ian (:|

I have also done similar (for my 15mm Finns) in snow terrain with a length of wooden dowel, covered by a small piece of cloth (or thick tissue paper) with a pin sticking out of the open end and the whole lot covered in snow 'scatter' and painted white. I paint the whole unit 1st with a light blue-grey, then heavy drybrush of white, then the snow scatter is glued on. I paint the end of the dowel where the the rifle is a very dark brown 1st. Quick and easy (for snow terrain anyway).

Is the next suggestion going to be to have an empty base with just static grass and say they are camoflaged?  :P

This. This is the correct way to model a sniper team.

There is a decent sniper in the Argentine Falklands range.

Good point - why is a model needed of something that can't be seen?

Well, "shouldn't", rather than "can't", I think

Indeed, but what use is a sniper once compromised.
